Righteous. I'm from outside Austin. I was a kid in the 60's. All those things are exactly what we did. Peach ice cream and lightning bugs. They are not fireflies* people! After we got them into our jars, we went into the house and into the closet to watch them light up.

We lived in the country and we had screened in sleeping porches. That was really fun for us kids because the adults didn't hear us jumping on the bed and thumping each other until we were worn out. When my grandmother got central air in the 70's, she was convinced that going back and forth between the refrigerated air the heat would give you a cold. She kept the AC, but she missed the breezes from open windows. She had a house that was set up "to draw".

*Also, while I'm at it...they are pill bugs not doodle bugs.
